GOODBYE I BARGAINED NOT
OSY UGWU
WRITTEN @ STELLAMARIS COLLEGE ABBI
The sun that shone on that day first the sky you beheld
Too many thanks;
A pair of piercing eyes like that of the sun in my darkness
It conferred on you;
Evergreen in my memory you will die.
Today in the field two butterflies together fled and played
The memory of us it triggered;
I watched them part ways like us
In vain I waited to see them rejoin;
Nevertheless we left a memory cherished.
The day you found my secret
Was my darkness moment;
Till date, your eyes never beheld
And in the field we played I stand alone watching the
setting sun;
The romance it once held long lost.
God in heaven knows I miss you
Your velvety voice in distance rings everyday;
In every pretty face I meet I see you
My joy
and happiness took leave of me;
That day you gave me that four letter word-hate.
On the other end all season
I’ll wait.
Till proper goodbye in me well-expressed and shared.
